Prelim Video

For the three aspects that had to be included - shot
reverse shot, 180-degree rule and match on
action editing, we made sure we
included all three. We did the 180-degree rule and shot reverse
shot combined
when the conversation takes place at the beginning of the clip. We
also included
match on action when the student walks into the computer room to
pick up a belonging followed
by shot reverse shot on the scene where the
conversation between teacher and student takes
place.
Whilst producing our prelim we came
across a few problems that were interfering with our
filming. For example, one of the scenes we filmed involved collecting a belonging of the character
in which the filming came out a bit unsteady due to having a handheld device. We also were not
pleased with how the filming of the zooming in of the board stating “detention”. The filming did not
look as professional as the other clips of filming therefore it didn’t fit as well together.
We did however like the shots at the end of the shot reverse shot
conversation between teacher and
student. Overall we were impressed with how it
all fitted together and played smoothly.

You've managed to produce a film with the three required elements and some of it (the shot reverse shot for example) works well. There are a few issues which hopefully you can learn from. The first of these is your phone orientation which does not look cinematic! The other obvious one is the one you mentioned- the wobbly camera work. Always use a tripod where possible and find someone with a steady hand if you need to track and pan. There is always the steadicam if you need it!
