Introduction

                                                      Olivia and Ella

Our group consists of two of us, Olivia Dickenson and Ella Barringer. We are both seventeen years old 

and from the area of Essex.

 Our task


The task is to create an opening sequence of a film genre of our choice. It must be about two 

minutes as this is the normal length of an opening sequence. The aim of a film opening is to state the 

genre to the audience and then draw them in.

This tends to include the following conventions –Introducing the protagonist

- Introduce the narrative
- Production company
- Title
- Music
- Credits

We have chosen to do a Thriller/crime as our genre for the film opening.

This is things such as The Dark Knight, Silence of the lambs and Reservoir Dogs has influenced this choice for


us. They all have different story lines, however, each one has helped with ideas and inspiration for our own


final film opening sequence that we’re going to create.The reason we have chosen thriller as our genre of


choice is because a large majority of teenager’s watch thrillers.

One film that is of the same genre is Seven, this good because it has all the conventions of a 

thriller/crime film including enigmas, drama, and a complex narrative.

Another film is Psycho. This is a great film as it is has this amazing twist that no one was 

expecting at the end. Leaving everybody stunned and when you re-watch it makes you notice things 

that you never noticed before.
